We can not accept cancellation of orders over the phone. • Once we have received confirmation from you that you would like to cancel your order, we will email you a return code and return address. Write the return code on the outside of the package, and then return the goods to us at your expense in unused condition and in the original undamaged packaging (or packaging of the same quality). We recommend using an insured delivery service. • Once you have cancelled your order you must retain possession of any goods and ensure that such goods are kept in the same condition as they were when they were delivered, until such time that they are delivered back to us by you. • We will refund the full cost of the goods including the original postage and packaging. All items are packaged before sending with the utmost care and attention; any artwork not in 100% condition as dictated by the artist's working process will not be dispatched. • We will refund the full purchase price including postage and packing of an goods which are delivered in a damaged or faulty condition (other than due to failure to follow instructions or misuse). Alternatively, at your option, we will replace the item with the same or a similar product (subject to stock availability). FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Can I track my order ? Most orders should reach you with in 2/3 weeks. However if you do not receive your item after 28 days, please contact us and we will assist you in tracking the item. When contacting us please have your order number to hand. Do you ship to my country? Yes, we ship world wide. Has my order been dispatched yet? As soon as your order has been dispatched you will receive an email confirming this. I have placed my order but would like to change the delivery address what should I do? Please contact us, with your order number, name and address and if the item has not already been dispatched we will do our best to amend the delivery address for your order. Then he worked as a journalist, a radio producer and a local television host. He never received formal photography training. Today, he shoots primarily in his native town of Bryansk or the surrounding countryside, where he lives and works. Oleg Videnin is affiliated with Agency.Photographer.Ru, a partner of Magnum Photos.

    Youri Lenquette est avant tout connu pour ses portraits de personnalités mais surtout d'artistes. Des artistes parmi les plus influents, du rock (Nirvana, Iggy Pop,...) à la chanson française (Gainsbourg, Bashung,...). Il livre ici une approche de son travail sur la "scène africaine". Toutes ces photos sont extraites de l'exposition "African Covers". Son principe : proposer des images réalisées lors de sessions en vue de l'élaboration de pochettes de disques. Mais au final, aucune n'a pas été retenue. "Pour un passionné de musique de surcroît photographe -puisque les choses sont arrivées dans cet ordre pour moi- la pochette de disque est ce qu'il y a de plus passionnant mais aussi de plus difficile à faire. Un exercice qui peut parfois aussi être frustrant. On peut avoir fait une bonne photo qui ne fonctionne pas comme couverture de disque pour des raisons de graphisme, de marketing ou d'envie particulière de l'artiste. Tout comme l'inverse peut exister : faire une bonne pochette avec un cliché que l'on aime bien moins que d'autres dans la série. Dans tous les cas beaucoup d'images restent inédites ou peu exploitées. Pour "African Covers", je suis revenu sur ces sessions, dans certains cas plus de dix ans après les avoir faites, afin de voir celles, non retenues à l'époque, qui continuaient de me plaire aujourd'hui ou me paraissaient avec le recul un choix plus judicieux que celui fait en son temps."

    • Youssou N'Dour (Dakar, 2010)

      Photo extraite de l'exposition "African Covers" Youssou N'Dour, pochette de l'album «Dakar-Kingston» "Bien que nous ayons collaboré à maintes reprises depuis notre rencontre en 1993, photographier Youssou N'Dour reste un exercice périlleux. Comme la plupart des grands musiciens il montre peu de goût pour les sessions posées. Et ses multiples activités en font un homme très occupé. Il est donc impératif avec lui de savoir travailler vite. Une corvée auquel il se prête néanmoins avec humour et bonne humeur, à moins qu'il ne se soit simplement habitué à mon objectif. Une des pistes explorées pour ce premier album reggae de sa carrière, la photo présentée ici a été réalisée dans la maison de la styliste Claire Kane où je cherchais à obtenir une image colorée sans référence au rouge-jaune-vert habituellement associé aux rythmes jamaïquains."       Photo extraite de l'exposition "African Covers" Magic System, pochette de l'album «Ki Dit Mié» Écouter Asalfo raconter sa vie de gamin sans le sou du non moins déshérité quartier d'Anamabo à Abidjan, détailler avec moults anecdotes comment le groupe commença, comment fut enregistré «Premier Gaou» pour devenir un des meilleurs singles de la décennie passé, l'incroyable ascension vers les sommets internationaux de ce titre imparable et les quiproquos comiques que ce succès entraîna en même temps qu'il changeait sa vie, est un grand moment de drôlerie qui mériterait d'être filmé. Lui et ses trois acolytes ont beaucoup appris des voyages et rencontres qu'ils ont pu faire depuis. Ils restent pourtant des gars simples et sympas. Suffisamment en tous cas pour accepter de poser à quatre sur une vieille mobylette qui traînait dans le squat d'artiste que nous avions choisi comme lieu de shooting..." Y. Il faut pourtant reconnaître qu'Alpha Blondy a cette incroyable capacité à se rendre sympathique, cette convivialité naturelle qui fait oublier sans coup férir tous les rendez-vous annulés et reportés et annulés et reportés et annulés et reportés nécessaires pour le coincer derrière son objectif." Mes craintes se sont révélées au final infondées. Malgré la chaleur épouvantable qui obligeait à des raccords de maquillage incessants, Oumou fait preuve en toutes circonstances d'une élégance décontractée qui mettrait en confiance le plus novice des photographes." On pourrait imaginer que devoir prendre des images de gens avec lesquels l'usage de références visuelles est impossible complique beaucoup la vie du photographe... C'est sans compter sur l'incroyable feeling de tout ce qui les entoure dont font preuve le célèbre couple d'aveugles du Mali, dans leur expression artistique comme dans le moindre détail de leur vie. "Guitariste, compositeur, chanteuse mais aussi comédienne et véritable bête de scène, Fatou Diawara est vraisemblablement l'une des jeunes artistes africaines les plus prometteuses. Un potentiel qui n'a pas échappé à l'oreille avisée de Nick Gold, qui l'a signée sur son prestigieux label World Circuit, à l'origine du succès planétaire de Buena Vista Social Club et d'autres productions unanimement reconnues comme oeuvres de qualité. Nous avons dû faire ces photos pendant une des pires vagues de froid qu'ait connu Paris. Sauf que le disque devait sortir en mai et qu'il fallait absolument que les images ne soient pas trop hivernales. Remerciements donc à Fatou pour son courage et son professionnalisme, elle qui dut marcher ainsi vêtue par -5° pendant des heures et en gardant néanmoins le sourire..." Je me souvient avoir été frappé par l'incroyable ressemblance avec son illustre père. La pochette de son premier album est un portrait réalisé à Paris mais je préfère de loin l'image présentée ici prise chez lui dans la cour de Kalakuta, endroit qui fut la maison de son père et où se trouve, aujourd'hui sa sépulture. José Da Silva m'avait envoyé un cd demo sans aucun visuel de cette nouvelle chanteuse qu'il venait de signer. Écouter sa musique, oscillant avec finesse entre tradition et modernité, m'avait fait tomber sous son charme. Inutile de préciser que la voir en personne pendant cette session ne contribua pas à diminuer mon émoi... naturelle qui fait oublier sans coup férir tous les rendez vous nécessaires pour espérer finalement le coincer derrière que bien des clair-voyants…" Y. Fort de trois personnalités charismatiques et complémentaires, capables d'écrire de vraies chansons, excellents sur scène : il était déjà évident en 1998 que leur potentiel dépassait largement le cadre du mouvement hip-hop dont ils se revendiquaient. J'ai fait pour eux la pochette de «Xalima». Puis 4 ans plus tard celle de «Boomerang» dont la cover a été déclinée en deux versions : une pour le monde, l'autre pour l'Angleterre où le disque a rencontré un véritable succès. Cette session a d'autre part eu un impact indirect mais important sur ma vie personnelle et explique ma présence de plus en plus marquée au Sénégal depuis cette date..." Y.       Photo extraite de l'exposition "African Covers" Tiken jah Fakoly, pochette de l'album «Coup de Gueule» "Tiken est le seul artiste pour lequel j'ai réalisé autant de pochettes consécutivement : quatre au total entre 1998 et 2004, ma préférée restant celle de «Francafrique», l'album qui lui ouvrit les portes d'un succès international. L'image présentée ici est tirée des sessions de «Coup de Gueule» d’après une idée de Tiken lui-même. Passionné par l'univers de la boxe, il tenait à ce que je le photographie sur un ring. Je n'étais pas très convaincu par ce projet et plutôt content que ce soit le portrait tout simple de lui qui fut choisi au final pour illustrer le disque. Ce n'est que plus tard que j'ai commencé à aimer cette photo et décidé de rendre justice à l'intuition de Tiken en l'incluant à cette expo." Y. De la musique moderne, intelligente et pourtant accessible et naturelle portée par l’énergie d'une très belle jeune femme : je ne pouvais que vouloir la photographier. Nous sommes devenus amis à l'occasion de ses concerts à Paris et je l'ai finalement rejoint au Nigeria pour la pochette de son deuxième album. Être fan et ami ne facilite cependant pas forcément les choses. L'intransigeante honnêteté dont elle fait preuve dans sa vie comme dans son art la rend rétive à tout ce qui ressemble aux contraintes du show business, photos et sourires à l'objectif en tête. Je me souviens que nous nous sommes copieusement disputés cette après-midi là, avant de nous réconcilier et prendre ces images au bord de la route,à l'endroit même où nous nous étions arrêtés...". Y. Pour illustrer cet album de kora instrumentale je voulais pouvoir le présenter comme s'il s'agissait d'un musicien classique d'où le costume que nous avions loué pour l'occasion. Toumani jouait de son instrument transformant la session en un véritable moment de magie musicale… Cette image sera finalement retenue pour l'affiche de la tournée qui suivit la sortie du disque.". Respecté jusqu'en Amérique Latine et notamment à Cuba où on ne badine pas avec le swing, le combo sénégalais traverse les époques avec la même aisance chaloupée. Une bande de vieux routiers qu'il faut savoir canaliser devant la caméra comme un prof le ferait devant une classe d’élèves facétieux. Le plus dur étant de s'assurer qu'ils seront bien tous là au même endroit et au même moment.
